Bacci Wines’ latest acquisition is located in Sardinia, in the beautiful and remote Central-Eastern area of the “happy island”, precisely in Mamojada. This isolated corner, known for its uncontaminated beauty and its winemaking history, is home to the Blue Zone winery, which represents a new and fascinating challenge for Bacci Wines, blending tradition, innovation and the authentic character of the Sardinian territory. The territory of Mamojada is famous for its historic vineyards, with centuries-old Cannonau plants, an authentic treasure protected by the isolation that prevented Phylloxera, which in 1920 destroyed 99% of European vineyards, from reaching this area. The Blue Zone vineyards are planted on granite and rocky soils, which extend between 400 and 900 meters above sea level. This particular geology, combined with a unique climate, gives the wines an excellent personality, enriched by local traditions. Due to the difficult conditions of the soil, all winemaking operations are carried out manually or with the help of Sardinian oxen, a traditional breed, well adapted to the mountainous and rocky land of the area. These oxen, used to work the soil in a gentle and respectful way, help to preserve the integrity of the soil, essential for sustainable viticulture. The production of Blue Zone is deliberately limited to only 3000 bottles per year, making each wine a rare and precious product. This artisanal approach, combined with a rigorous attention to quality, allows for wines that fully reflect the beauty, authenticity and richness of the Mamojada territory.
