Castello di Bossi
The Castello di Bossi is located at the center of the estate, situated in the southern part of Chianti Classico, in the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga. The first tower was built around 1099; later, in 1450, it took on a defensive quadrilateral shape.
It covers 500 hectares of land, of which 120 are cultivated as vineyards. The average altitude of the vineyards is around 350 meters above sea level, and their exposure ranges from southeast to west. The three main grape varieties are Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot.
Unlike other areas of Chianti Classico, the Sangiovese of Castelnuovo Berardenga experiences greater phenolic and tannic ripening due to the moderated climate. Cabernet and Merlot were among the first planted in Chianti Classico about 40 years ago.
The predominant soils include tuff, yellow clays, sandy loam, and broken rock.
